Having both sung in bands previously, they called upon past repertoires and one song turned into an hour-long set. This was well received and it was agreed that it would be a shame to leave it there.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_292\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jurassicrock.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/wickham_bishops0009-e1418397867240.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-292\" class=\"wp-image-292 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/jurassicrock.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/wickham_bishops0009-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"The amigos\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-292\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The amigos<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The two of them called upon other fathers who had similar misspent youths. During the early years the band went through many guises and personnel changes. They were known variously as <i>The Dadbeats, Banned for the Night<\/i> and some even more unflattering names when they played the occasional (and very dodgy) gig at pubs and friends\u2019 parties.<\/p>\n<p>Things started to take shape in 1997 when Tony\u2019s son, also <a href=\"https:\/\/jurassicrock.co.uk\/wp\/paul-eaton-bass-backing-vocals\/\">Paul<\/a>,\u00a0left university and joined as the bass player and they settled on the name <b><i> Jurassic Rock<\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 However, the Band didn\u2019t finally gel until two years later when <a href=\"https:\/\/jurassicrock.co.uk\/wp\/bob-settle-drums-backing-vocals\/\">Bob Settle<\/a>\u00a0became the drummer.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_370\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jurassicrock.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/band003.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-370\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-370\" src=\"https:\/\/jurassicrock.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/band003-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Wonderful Tonight\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-370\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wonderful Tonight<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Paul Cooper left\u00a0<b><i>Jurassic Rock<\/i><\/b>\u00a0in 2009 and, sadly, died of a heart attack in 2014. \u00a0The band continued as a power trio after Paul&#8217;s departure with Tony, who had sung about 30% of the songs during Paul Cooper&#8217;s tenure,\u00a0singing lead. This was not a difficult transition, as Paul had not been able to attend all the rehearsals or gigs prior to his departure and so Tony had been eased into the role.<\/p>\n<p>To avoid being sued, the Band draws heavily on numbers composed by people now dead and the repertoire is extensive, but there is inevitably a strong emphasis on 50\u2019S and 60\u2019s music.\u00a0 <b> <i>Jurassic Rock<\/i><\/b> has a wide repertoire ranging from raucous rock \u2018n\u2019 roll to lilting ballads, with everything in between and so is able to cater for a similarly wide range of functions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It all started in 1995 when Tony Eaton\u00a0and Paul Cooper\u00a0were asked to sing at a school barbeque.
