Author jurassictone    Category News     Tags

For 3 of the previous 4 New Years’ Eve celebrations, we have been at the Royal Burnham Yacht Club.  Although we had a the usual great time at The Plough Inn, Hundon last year, we are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new friends at The Royal Burnham Yacht Club, Burnham-On-Crouch, Essex this year.  They are lively, fun crowd and we are all certain of a riotous time.

Tony Hits The Top

Not of the hit parade, but of the highest mountain in Africa.

After 6 days of trekking to the base camp at 15,000 feet, the ascent of the last 4,000 feet to the summit of Kilimanjaro took over 6 hours.  Tony arrived there with his 4 fellow trekkers at dawn on 28th February 2016.

Having trekked in a number of places in the last few years, including the Inca Trail and the Great Wall of China, this was Tony’s most gruelling and demanding trek. The altitude was greater, the terrain more demanding and the nights camping out were much colder than anything previously experienced.  However, being one of the 85% who attempt it to make the summit of Kilimanjaro made the effort worthwhile.

We have just purchased a top of the range mixing console:

Peavey FX2 24 mixing console

Peavey FX2 24 mixing console

Used in conjunction with our Bose speakers and amplifiers, this new console will ensure we continue to provide the highest quality hi-fidelity sound.  Although larger than our previous mixing console, it replaces not only the old mixer, but also reverb & delay effects, compressor, graphic equaliser and cd player.  Part of our aim is to reduce the amount of equipment we have to carry whilst maintaining the highest possible quality sound.

Return of the Yeti!

A towering presence

A towering presence

We are delighted to say that we have a replacement for Paul as our bass player.  Tony has played with Yeti in another band and, when he heard of the vacancy, Yeti jumped at the chance of playing with Jurassic Rock.

Yeti is a vastly experienced musician.  He has played and sung with a wide range of bands and has taught guitar, bass, singing and music theory in a number of institutions.

Yeti brings a unique dynamic and at 6′ 4″, he is a towering presence.  Bob and Tony are pleased that Paul’s replacement will allow Jurassic Rock to continue as the region’s leading rock ‘n’ roll band.
